Retail & Ecommerce: Spotlight Webinar Roundup 2 July 2020

It’s fair to say that 2020 has been a tough year so far. This pandemic has changed the way we live our day-to-day lives, and especially how we buy things. Early into lockdown, eCommerce sales went up 60 per cent, particularly in the entertainment, stationery, and food and beverage sectors. And with lockdown restrictions starting to ease, 24 per cent of consumers are still planning to avoid the high street for the next six months. It’s clear, then, that it’s a time of opportunity for eCommerce-only brands. At our retail and eCommerce spotlight webinar, which took place on Thursday (2 July), our speakers gave some top tips on how eCommerce brands can draw in new customers in the post-COVID world, as well as retain their existing ones.

Why Thoughtfulness is the Key to Building Trust with Your Customers

People often don’t say what they’re thinking, and this is something we tend to forget when it comes to our prospects, and the people that we’re targeting. People are taking in the messages we’re giving them all the time, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re liking it. Marisa Thomas, Head of Brand at Bloom & Wild, shares an example of how Bloom & Wild decided to put thoughtfulness at the heart of their marketing approach and strategy.

How to Future Proof Your eCommerce Business

Cox & Cox started off using Magento 1 to run their eCommerce store, as well as their Netsuite ERP system and warehouse management system. As a business they were growing 20 per cent year-on-year, and couldn’t have Magento 1 running all these additional technologies. Aynsley Peet, Head of eCommerce at Cox & Cox, talks about why you should consider an eCommerce platform upgrade, and the technologies you can implement off the back of that.

Could Your eCommerce Strategy Benefit from Some Post COVID-19 Therapy?

Over the past three months, retail has seen some huge transformations. Some of them were welcome, and some not so much, like not being able to buy exactly what we needed, or queueing outside a supermarket. As a result, online sales have grown exponentially, with some businesses making seven months’ worth of revenue in just three weeks. Becky Simms, CEO at Reflect Digital, gives some tips on how to keep these new online buyers coming back.

eCommerce, Moving Image, and Your Brand’s Performance

eCommerce faces many challenges, and in this talk, Jon Mowat, Managing Director at Hurricane, focuses on just one of them – ad blockers. He discusses how marketing teams can use video marketing to work around them.
