Sport England’s role is to build the foundations of a community sport system by working with national governing bodies of sport and other funded partners, to grow the number of people taking part in a sport. They aim to sustain participation levels; and help more talented people from all diverse backgrounds excel by identifying them early, nurturing them, and helping them move up to the elite level. From traditional team sports to activities like walking or going to the gym, Sport England is building an active nation that caters for everyone.

Feminist firebrand and former journalist Kate Dale is responsible for delivering This Girl Can, Sport England’s multi-award winning campaign, which is changing the way millions of people think about exercise and physical activity, and has seen 2.8 million more women get active as a direct result. Prior to this, Kate spent 10 years as a trade magazine editor before becoming a brand and content specialist for major online banking institutions including Barclays.
