Venom

The Challenge

Tom Hardy is Venom, Marvel’s anti superhero. We were the lead UK creative digital agency tasked to develop a fully integrated digital campaign for the theatrical release all the way through to home entertainment.

The Strategy

As part of this campaign we developed a promoted Snapchat story that proved one of the most successful ever run.

This Snapchat story took users on a journey as Tom Hardy is being taken over by Venom. All creative was action focused, grabbing the audience’s attention through short spots, quote creative, stacked verticals and alpha videos.

We also dropped exciting pieces of information, including a soundtrack snippet of Eminem’s ‘Venom’ soundtrack, a chance to win a trip to Singapore with Grenade as well as a swipe-up to the Venom Lens which delivered 3,354,020 impressions on its own.

The Results

The story delivered:

  • A staggering 27m impressions
  • Over 220k swipe-ups
  • With an impressive completion rate of 20 per cent, meaning that every fifth user engaged with the whole story.

The movie was a huge success both at the UK and global box office.
