Quiksilver

Riding The E-commerce Wave

Quiksilver designs, produces and distributes clothing, accessories and related products for young-minded people and create brands that represent a casual lifestyle driven by a board-riding heritage.

Quiksilver is not just a brand name – but also a family of brands online in 14 countries, such as Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes.

The Challenge

The Quiksilver online presence is more than selling clothes and sports equipment – it is about lifestyle. They partnered with Dept to build new ecommerce sites to feature highly visual and interactive content, such as videos, lookbooks, and detailed product descriptions to foster an interactive brand experience.

Dept provided solution engineering, implementation and technical support for the Quiksilver shop sites.

The Strategy

Dept built the Quiksilver online shops using the OneApp approach – a single global Salesforce Commerce Cloud based platform and infrastructure with emphasis on configuration of pre-existing integrations. All features, integrations and components that may be necessary are contained in the global OneApp code base and the whole feature set is configurable. Different third-party systems per region are back-integrated into the main OneApp code base and made available for shared purposes.

The new Quiksilver online shop went live in July 2012 on the Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform – in ten European countries, featuring four languages after only a few months of implementation time. The Quiksilver shops now contain the epitome of user-friendly check out, including guest check out and additional payment options such as credit cards and PayPal.

Oneapp Architecture Simplifies International Rollouts

An additional benefit to the OneApp architecture is that it simplifies international rollouts, as the OneApp code base is shared across all regions, brands and countries. As features in the OneApp are virtually available to all sites, rollout of additional sites, or site in multiple countries, is done by configuration and therefore comes with less implementation development.

The net effect: rapid deployment of new sites.

The Results

The new Quiksilver shops went online, in multiple languages and countries, within months and have been a huge success. Throughout the partnership, Dept has ensured that the shop is seamlessly connected with Quiksilver’s social media presence to keep customers connected with the surf and sports community activities, events, and idols.

Most significantly, the implementation of sophisticated search and intuitive, easy navigation has resulted in a dramatic decrease in cart abandonment rates.
