Uncovering the Panama Papers: Helping Nuix to amplify industry conversation about its role in breaking the Panama papers

The Brief

Remember waking up to the Panama Papers? With an endless stream of leaked documents and headlines about shady business dealing, it’s hard to keep up with every meme. This one refers to 11.5 million documents from Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca, that were leaked to a German newspaper in April 2016. With 2.6 terabytes of data to crack, the paper reached out to Nuix for some much needed document processing and investigation support.

The Method

Octopus Group stepped in to help Nuix capitalise on its ground breaking role, hitting the phones to secure interviews with journalists who needed to know about Nuix’s software capabilities. At the same time, Octopus Group had to downplay Nuix’s knowledge of the leaked contents and how it all came about. Quick-fire media training for Nuix’s project lead, Carl Barron, helped ensure the messages stayed consistent and on point.
