Advertising On Instagram: Should You Be Doing It?

If your business already advertises on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, why would you consider now investing time and money in advertising on Instagram? Let us tell you why it’s worth thinking about Instagram for business…

The Many Benefits Of Advertising On Instagram

• 80m photos per day

High Engagement Statistics

There have been numerous studies into the effectiveness of social media. Heck! We’ve discussed many in our articles. But the latest figures on advertising on Instagram are quite interesting.

According to Instagram itself, its sponsored ads see 2.8 times higher ad recall on average than recall from other social networks. Furthermore, a study by Forrester found that consumers are 58 times more likely to engage with branded content on Instagram than Facebook and 120 times more than Twitter.

It has also been revealed that Instagram users stay 192 seconds on average – more than any other channel – meaning it is highly engaged with the content and therefore ads have a decent chance of getting traction.

A great case study can be seen from Sonos. The home audio company utilised Instagram advertising to drive brand awareness and conversions with great results. There was a 17-point lift in ad recall, 8-point lift in brand preference and 19 million people were reached. This meant return on spend was 19 times Sonos’ investment.

In-Depth Audience Targeting

Facebook owns Instagram, therefore you can expect many of the precise targeting abilities on Instagram that you may have become familiar with on its parent company’s site. This allows advertisers to spend money on ads that will reach the correct target audiences and are more likely to convert.

So, whether you want to target users by location or their interests, using custom or lookalike audiences, you can do it with Instagram.

A Seamless Experience

Instagram puts a lot of emphasis on its ad design so that they appear clean, simple and unobtrusive in users’ newsfeeds, yet still stand out and gain engagement. Imagery is large and bold and are available in both photo and video format.

Instagram Is Ever-Evolving

Instagram has changed a lot over recent months and years, and we’re sure it’ll continue to do so in future. Instagram is dedicated to constantly improving its service through regular updates in order to offer its users the best experience possible. This includes everything from stories to photo filters, stickers to, yes you guessed it, ads.
